Moving a library in complete order - Buehler Companies, The Way The World Is Moving Their Libraries and Bookcases!

Moving a library can be very overwhelming! You have to keep all of the books in order to avoid a nightmare at the end of the move. The last thing that you want is for any of the books to get mixed up.

Buehler Companies understands the importance of keeping everything in order where a library move is concerned. This is why I have compiled a list of frequently asked questions and answers.

We hope that this helps your moving process and helps to put your mind at ease when choosing the right moving company to handle your library moving needs.

Q:
How do you keep everything in order?
A:
We use library carts and load the books onto the carts in complete order, the library carts are then shrink wrapped and labeled in a detailed manner to ease the unloading process. The books come off the shelf in order and go back onto the shelf in order.

Q:
Do you also take down and put up the shelving?
A:
Yes. Buehler Companies experienced and certified crews are fully trained to disassemble and reassemble various types of library shelving.

Q:
How do you manage large library moves?
A:
There are various different factors on how we manage each move. The project management scope of services is laid out based on your individual moving needs. Buehler Companies offers a project management website to our customers on larger projects to ensure that everyone is in loop and on schedule with just one click.

Q:
How do your moving crews know where to place the items?
A:
Prior to the move, Buehler Companies assigns move numbers for item placement at destination. These move numbers create efficiency to reduce time and cost associated with the move. Strategically placed numbering plans really help to ensure that everything goes exactly where it should.

Q:
Does moving a library cost more?
A:
It depends on how prepared you are. Moving a library can be time consuming if you aren’t prepared which can result in costing additional money. We will provide you with a list of things that you can do to ensure that your library move takes less time and saves you money.

Q:
Does moving a library require more trucks?
A:
Yes. Moving a library and keeping it in complete order does take additional truck because library carts (bookshelves) require more room than cartons or boxes. However, paying for additional trucks will essentially be a lot more cost effective in the end rather than paying your employees to pack and unpack books.

There are some of the most commonly asked questions when it comes to library moves. If you have further questions, please don’t hesitate to contact us!

Here is a checklist on how you can prepare for your next library move. This will help you to save time and money!
Make sure that all of the books are placed on the shelves prior to the moving company arriving on site. Loose books can cause a mix up at destination.

Make sure that you have a floor plan of the new building and have discussed the layout of the new library with your moving company.
Take photos of the entire library so that if there are questions on how things were laid out at the origin building, you can use the photos for reference.

Get with the property management of the buildings to make sure that your move date is scheduled and reserve elevators, etc…
Measure the floor space at both origin and destination buildings and discuss with your moving company on the height of the shelves, placement and review to be sure there is room to place everything in the new building prior to moving all items.

Rather than doing and extensive inventory, have your moving company count the library carts at origin and again at destination instead. This makes everything go faster which will ultimately save you time.

Ask your moving company if their equipment is in good order. Faulty equipment can cost you time and money.
Label all rooms at destination and staging areas completely to avoid causing confusion.

We hope that some of these ideas will help you to save time and money on your move. We are glad to answer additional questions if you have any. Give us a shout at 303-388-4000

Office Moving - Large Projects - Moving Fortune 500 Companies - Office Moving Tips and Hints

Do you have a large project? Moving a large corporation or an office can prove to be a difficult task indeed. There are a lot of various factors that go into the project management of a large corporate move.At Buehler Companies, we understand that details are everything when moving a fortune 500 company from one office building to another. Here are some hints and tips to make your office move more cost effective, organized and run a lot more efficient.

Office Moving Tips
  • Instead of using room numbers, number the rooms at the final destination 1, 2, 3, 4, etc… and assign the “move” numbers to each person. This makes things a lot easier when the moving company is placing items in your new office. 1, 2, 3, 4 is a lot easier to work with than names or large room numbers.
  • Make sure your employees are on track. Communication is the key. Reminders of when boxes will be delivered or when they should start packing, when the movers are set to arrive, etc…. all of the details are important to keeping everyone on track with the move.
  • Have a move meeting to talk and discuss various aspects of the move. This also gives your employees a chance to ask questions and get answers to some of their concerns.
  • Create welcome packets for the employees for their new desks. Moving isn’t just hard on the corporation, it’s hard on the employees as well. It’s not easy to start at a new desk with new surroundings.
  • Assign move teams to pack the common areas and closets. By dividing the workload, everyone packs less and it’s a lot less work for the entire company.
  • Have the moving company come a couple of hours early so that they can begin laying floor and wall protection down to protect the office. Damages can cost your company a lot more than paying the moving company to come in a little early.
  • Ask your moving company if they can provide a project management webpage for you. At Buehler Companies, we will build an entire webpage dedicated to your move. This keeps everyone on track and educates your employees on how to pack specific items.

Also, here is a corporate Moving Checklist that will help you to remember some of the most commonly forgotten items.

Moving A Mattress? Here Are Some Useful Tips And Hints On How To Pack And Move Your Mattress Properly

Do you have an expensive mattress? One of the most common problems when moving a mattress is that it slides across the floor or the ground and gets immediate damage and can get stained and ruined.

Even if you are moving yourself and you don’t hire a moving company, ask about our mattress bags!

They are relatively cheap and can save you tons by protecting your expensive mattress. We also provide mattress cartons in various sizes if you prefer to have a box instead of a bag.

Do yourself a favor and save your mattress!!!

Tips on Moving a Mattress

  • Remember that King and Queen Beds normally have Single box springs. So when you are packing a king size bed, pick up the king mattress bag and two single mattress bags.
  • Have a friend help you! You can get hurt trying to put the mattress in the bag or box by yourself.
  • Use tape to make handles on the side of the mattress bag for easy lifting.
  • Spray your mattress lightly with Fabreze prior to placing it into the box or bag so that it keeps a fresh smell throughout the moving process.
  • Put extra tape on the corners of the mattress bag for extra protection.

Hopefully these tips will help you to move your mattress safely. Call us today if you need any help!

Also, check out our moving resources page for additional hints and tips on moving.

Make Sure Your Moving Company Background Checks All Of Their Moving Crews - Don't Allow Just Anyone Into YOUR Home

I was browsing on our Google+ page like normal and I saw a post asking the question “Can a Moving Company reject a move?” and of course I clicked on it because I wanted to read what was said.

I found it interesting that the post went on about how Moving Companies hire temporary labor in the summer because there is so much volume.

Well, that may be the case for some moving companies, but Mayflower and United Van Lines do not allow us to just hire just any moving labor.

Our moving crews have to be certified and background checked at the highest standard in the industry.

I wanted to bring this up because clearly, you can’t always believe what you read on the internet. Please be cautious when you choose your Moving Company – Ask about their background check process.

Make sure they have a policy or guidelines that they can provide to you about their labor. Educate yourself on who the moving company is allowing into YOUR home!

And to answer the question that brought this up, yes a moving company can reject a move if they cannot service the dates, requirements, etc… just like you can decide not to use a moving company.

Of course, we try not to reject any moves, but I would personally rather reject the move than to provide less than stellar service.

Over and out, ~ Joy
