Most moving companies don’t like to talk about the Gypsy Moth problem, but it’s important to know and it’s a growing dilemma in the United States. The gypsy moth is one of the most destructive pests of trees and shrubs. They weaken the trees by gorging on up to 300 host species.

Before your next move, be sure to fully inspect your items to help prevent the spread of Gypsy moth to new areas.

The gypsy moth has infested many states and has resulted in massive defoliation of the regions trees. If you live where the gypsy moth is prevalent, then you already know the damage that this insect can cause. These leaf eating caterpillars devour the leaves of hardwood trees and shrubs. This has caused a major problem in our ecosystem.

One of our major goals is that we do not spread the moth around when we are moving your belongings. Helping our echo system to stay alive is extremely important. Please inspect all of your outdoor items prior to allowing them to go onto the moving truck.

Follow these steps for Gypsy Moth inspection:

      Carefully examine each article

      Remove and destroy any larva or life stages found

      Check the item off the list on the inventory

.     Date and sign indicating that the item was inspected

Gypsy Moths lay their eggs between April 1^st and August 31^st. Please inspect all items during this time to prevent the spreading of the moths. If you inspect your items prior to the move, please cover and seal the items with tarps or plastic bags or store the items indoors.
